Kansas City Chiefs’ WR Steve Breaston comfortable in playing at different positions – NFL News
Kansas City Chiefs’ wide receiver, Steve Breaston, who played as a slot receiver for the first time in his National Football League (NFL) career last year has said that he is comfortable in playing at different positions and that the last year’s change of
position really helped build his confidence.
Breaston has been playing in the NFL since 2007. He was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals with whom Breaston played most of the times as outside receiver.
He joined the Chiefs last year and got the new position at which he did a relatively good job.
He started 13 games while playing 16 and registered 785 receiving yards on 61 receptions. He also scored two touchdowns.
Now as he prepares for the upcoming season, Breaston is confident that he can play both as inside and slot receiver depending upon the team’s requirement.
According to the details present on the team’s official website, the receiver said:
“I played outside the whole path, but I think last year when I went into the slot, I learned a lot being there. I can play every position. That’s no problem for me. I think I’m more comfortable with it than in years before.”
After playing just one season at a different position, Breaston has learned different on-field tactics, which, he thinks, will help him if he gets to play at the same position again in the 2012 season.
There is still a lot to learn and Breaston is of the view that if he does more practice he will master the art.
When asked about how different it is to be playing at two separate positions, he said:
“I don’t want to say it’s easier, but there is a lot of room inside there. You’re off the ball a lot when you’re in the slot, but as the season went on, I understood what went on. There are backers inside there. There are certain things inside there that
you don’t have when you’re outside.”
It is still not clear what role Breaston will get in the next season as Chiefs’ offensive coordinator, Brian Daboll, has not yet spoken on the matter.
However, it is expected that a clear idea about Breaston’s position will be presented during the training camp before the start of the preseason.
