Kansas City Chiefs face Buffalo Bills as both teams look for first victory of the season – NFL Preview
Buffalo Bills will be looking to utilise the advantage of playing at home as they play Week 2 game against Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, September 16, 2012.
Both the teams will be looking to have their first win of the 2012 season after losing their season opener respectively.
Bills’ defence will needs to give a better performance against Chiefs’ tight offence in order to give any chance for their team to win this game. The defence gave away 48 points against New York Jets in Week 1 game.
Despite all the additions to the defensive team in the offseason, the score line looked similar to the Bills’ final game of the 2011 season against New England Patriot, who scored 49 points in the game.
The $100 million-guy Mario Williams failed to give any credible performance on Sunday for the Bills. Talking about the defence, Williams said:
"We definitely didn't do what we needed to do to win, the biggest thing was that we didn't get sacks. Starting with myself, we definitely have to put the quarterback on his back with any means necessary."
Bills’ offensive team is currently plagued with injuries. Wide receiver David Nelson got a torn knee ligament during the season opener and will miss the rest of the season.
Also, starting Running back Fred Jackson got a knee injury and will be out for at least a month. Giving his stance on the injury concerns, Bills head coach Chan Gailey said:
"It's a setback. You lose experience and you lose versatility. But I think our guys can adjust."
Chiefs’ defence is also looking forward to having a change of fortune after a miserable performance in 40-24 loss to Atlanta Falcons.
However, this game will mark return of Chiefs Pro Bowl linebacker Tamba Hali, who was suspended for Week 1 game. The presence of Hali will have a great effect on Chiefs’ defensive output. Hali said:
"I think as a whole we need to continue to work and get better, every guy has to do their job. We'll continue to study film and study our opponent. We just need to be on top of our game."
Chiefs will be without cornerback Brandon Flowers, safety Kendrick Lewis and defensive tackle Anthony Toribio due to injuries.
Their offence looked better in the game against Falcons as compared to last season. Quarterback Matt Cassel completed 21 out of 33 passes for 258 yards. Also, running back Jamaal Charles will hopefully return after missing most of the last season.
Although both the teams are currently standing 0-1 in the division ranking, they are currently facing different circumstances. Overall, it looks like Chiefs’ offence that will take away the game from Bills’ meagre defence.
