Kansas City Chiefs head coach Romeo Crennel blames inconsistent play for team’s failure – NFL News
Not many people were anticipating that Kansas City Chiefs will be able to come on top of Oakland Raiders in Week 15, but the way Raiders shut them out during the 0-15 defeat showed how deep the problems are in the Chiefs camp.
Chiefs head coach Romeo Crennel looked pretty concerned on Monday, December 17, 2012, a day after the game in which his offence failed to score a single point against Raiders defence that has struggled throughout the season.
Crennel and company have now just two games to prove their capabilities and the coach knows that Chiefs have to be more consistent on the field. Giving his views about the Chiefs performance against Raiders, Ryan said:
“We’re in this business to win because that’s how it’s kind of counted, by your win-loss record. When you’re not able to win, you always wonder about yourself – what do I need to do more, what haven’t I done, and those kinds of things.”
Chiefs running game was unable to get a first down in the entire game. Moreover, the overall offence covered a mere 119 yards on the field. Crennel went on and said:
“When you try different things and you still don’t win, it kind of wears on you a little bit. You know you’re going to play on Sunday, so you have to put that best foot forward and try to get that win, because that’s the best thing that will make you feel
better about yourself and about what you’re trying to get done.”
Even though the defence did a better job as compared to the offensive team, they miserably allowed Raiders to have the possession for more than 40 minutes of the game and allowed 385 total yards.
Chiefs will play their last home game of the season and it his highly unlikely that there would be much fanfare by the home crowd.
After going through such turbulent times this season which includes the suicide of one of their players, Chiefs might be hoping to end this season’s ordeal as soon as possible.
