Kansas City Chiefs performance report till Week 7 – NFL Special Part 2
In this part we will analyse the performance of Kansas City Chiefs during games played in Week 4, 5 and 6 of the regular season.
Week 4: San Diego Chargers
Chiefs totally lost the momentum in this game after coming from a victorious Week 3 as they lost 20-37 against San Diego Chargers.
The major cause of Chiefs’ downfall was six turnovers given by them, out of which five were given away in the first half.
Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel had a miserable game as he was intercepted three times in the first half. He completed 24 of 42 passes for 251 yards and scored two touchdowns.
Running back Jamaal Charles continued his good run of form as he scored rushing as well as passing touchdowns. He carried the ball 17 times for 88 yards.
Wide receiver Dwayne Bowe also had a good game. He caught the ball seven times for 10 passing yards along with a touchdown.
Chargers took the early lead as they were 27-6 heading into second half, thanks to a weak Chiefs defence.
Week 5: Baltimore Ravens
Baltimore Ravens managed to scrape enough field goals to beat the Chiefs 9-6 in a closely-contested encounter.
Ravens snapper Justin Tucker scored three field goals while Chiefs kicker Ryan Succop scored twice in a game where both teams failed to score a touchdown.
Chiefs’ defence managed to keep Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco under the grasp throughout the game.
Cassel was unable to play the entire game after getting a head injury in the final quarter. He completed nine out of 15 passes for 92 yards before leaving the field.
Backup quarterback Brady Quinn played his first game of the season. However, he failed to get many opportunities and finished with two of two for 32 yards.
Charles carried the ball 31 times for 140 yards but failed to score a touchdown.
Week 6: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Chiefs got thumped in their fifth loss of the season as they were beaten 10-38 by Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 6.
Buccaneers scored as many as five touchdowns as Chiefs defence continued to give woeful performance.
Quinn allowed two interceptions in his first start in two seasons. He finished with 22 of 38 for 180 yards.
His poor performance made it even more difficult for Chiefs head coach Romeo Crennel to decide who should be the team’s starting quarterback.
After Week 7, Chiefs are standing at the last position in American Football Conference (AFC) West with a 1-5 record.
