Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Brady Quinn gets cleared for practice – NFL News
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Brady Quinn has indicated that he has got the clearance to participate in practice session and hopes to play in Week 11 game against Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, November 18, 2012.
Quinn talked with the reporters on Monday, November 12, and said that he has now recovered from his injury. According to Kansas City Star, Quinn said:
“I’m real excited. I was glad to be able to come with the team and being around them again because it stinks not being around these guys and not feeling like you’re a part of them.”
The quarterback got a concussion during Week 8 game against Oakland Raiders and remained unavailable for the next two games.
Meanwhile, Chiefs head coach Romeo Crennel has not clarified who will be the starting quarterback on Sunday. During press conference on Tuesday, November 13, Crennel said:
“I think Brady [Quinn] said that he is ready to go, and I’m sure he is excited about the possibility, but at this point he is not officially cleared. So, I can’t make a determination until I can find out exactly what the prognosis is for him. So, that’s
what I’ll do. I’ll find out and then we’ll go from there.”
Crennel designated Quinn as a starter before Week 8 game after quarterback Matt Cassel failed miserably to give a game-winning performance.
When Quinn got hurt against Raiders, the coach had no option but to bring Cassel in and he continued his poor run of form in the next two games.
After Quinn’s injury, Cassel finished three games with 30 of 55 for 335 yards without scoring any touchdown.
Crennel had initially said that Quinn would regain his starting role on his return, but later backed out of his comments.
No matter who starts at quarterback, Crennel must come up with a solution and start winning games.
Chiefs are currently standing at the bottom of American Football Conference (AFC) West with 1-8 record and if they continue to perform like this, both Crennel and his quarterback might be shown the door after the season.
