Kansas City Chiefs’ running back Jamaal Charles claims to be ahead of recovery schedule – NFL News
Kansas City Chiefs’ running back, Jamaal Charles, who received a season-ending injury during second game of the 2011 National Football League (NFL) season, has claimed to be ahead of his recovery schedule, saying that he cannot wait to play
football again.
According to the details present on the team’s official website, Charles has lost some weight but he is working out with his trainers to get things back on track.
The team’s doctors have also acknowledged that the player is ahead of his recovery.
Charles has been working out privately since the last two months and has now joined the team in an anticipation to attend the training camp and preseason games.
He is looking forward to the workouts. He said:
“I feel like I can do the same things my teammates do. I do it without the coaches around. I catch balls, I cut, I do ladder drills and I’ve been doing this for like two months.”
Charles added:
“So coaches weren’t there when I was back home working out, so whatever time that I need for my body to rest, I think it’s even better to wait it out for awhile.”
Charles began his professional NFL career in 2008 with Chiefs. In his rookie season, he started only two games while playing 16 in which he registered a total of 357 receiving yards on 67 attempts.
In his second season, Charles started 10 games while playing 15 and managed to rush for 1,120 yards on 190 attempts while scoring seven touchdowns.
In his third season, Charles’ performance was even better as he played all 16 games of the regular season. However, he only started six of them.
In that season, he registered a total of 1,467 yards on 230 attempts for five touchdowns.
Last year, he was injured in second game of the season. He was only able to gain 83 rushing yards on 12 attempts.
When asked if the injury could hamper his progress in the upcoming season, Charles asserted that he would give his best shot to crush his opponents.
He said:
“If you’re worried about me not being the same, just look for this year, look out for me and you’ll see.”
