Kansas City Chiefs’ safety Eric Berry speaks about his injury – NFL News
The infamous bounty programme that the New Orleans Saints ran under their defensive coordinator Gregg Williams has received plenty of criticism, but it has also given birth to the rumours regarding of such programmes at any other franchises of the National
Football League (NFL).
Whether these speculations are true or not is up to the league office to decide, but some players who were injured during the last few seasons have now started contemplating whether they were also a victim of any programme.
The recent to think of it is Kansas City Chiefs’ safety Eric Berry, who could only play one game in the last NFL season owing to a season-ending injury he received in the first game of the season against the Buffalo Bills.
Now, instead of presenting his version on what he thinks of the hit that caused the injury, he has left it to the observers to what the films and make their own opinion regarding whether the hit was intentional or not.
Last month after the revelation of the bounty programme at Saints, Berry tweeted:
“Sometimes I sit n wonder if they had a bounty out on me … oh well … who cares. Either way u can’t hold me down.”
He later clarified that it was just a joke and has also said that it was past and he is looking forward to welcoming the next season.
He said:
"They got the tape out there, you can make your own opinion. I mean, my opinion is my opinion. People are going to take it how they want to take it anyway.
"To me, that's in the past," he said. "It is what it is."
Berry started his professional NFL career in 2010 with the Chiefs. In his rookie year, he played and started all the games of the regular season and recorded 92 tackles.
However, the next season for the promising young player did not go as per his expectations and he played only one game.
With eyes on future now, Berry has said that he has recovered from the injury and was really excited to meet his teammate at the offseason workout programme. He said:
"I'm definitely excited, especially to be back with my teammates."
