Kansas City Chiefs tight end Kevin Boss remains unavailable after injury – NFL News
Kansas City Chiefs got another blow to their already injury-plagued roster as their tight end Kevin Boss got injured during Chiefs 35-17 loss to Buffalo Bills on Sunday, September 16, 2012.
Chiefs head coach announced the news during his postgame talk with media. Boss got a hard hit on his head as he was trying to catch a 29-yard pass during the second quarter.
As he went to the ground, his head was struck by forearm of Bills safety Da’Norris Searcy. His head then hit the ground in a very awkward manner.
Kevin then walked to the sidelines and after a few minutes, he was taken to the locker room with some support by the medical staff. Searcy was later penalised for his rough play.
The six-year year veteran joined Chiefs after a dismal season with the Oakland Raiders. He had a good time with New York Giants in his first four seasons in the league and joined Raiders on a hefty four-year deal. However, it did not work
out well for both sides.
Tight end Tony Moeaki is currently Chiefs’ top player in the position, but Boss previously indicated that he was happy to work with him. Boss said:
"I feel my strength is being able to do a little bit of everything as a tight end. I feel comfortable whether they ask me to run block, pass block, catch the ball, I feel comfortable doing it all and I think that's important as a tight
end to be well-rounded. They ask us to do it all. That's something we need to be comfortable in, doing all that, and I do."
Chiefs have not provided any detail about the severity of Boss’ injury. If he has a concussion, it will certainly keep him out for a considerable period.
Last season he received 28 passes and covered 368 yards and scored three touchdowns. He looked phenomenal during the first two games averaging 21.7 yards per carry.
Boss was drafted by New York Giants in the fifth round (153rd overall pick) of the 2007 draft.
