Kansas City Royals crush Minnesota Twins 7-3 – MLB News

Kansas City Royals posted another solid performance as they thrashed the Minnesota Twins 7-3 at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri on Thursday, June 6, in the finale of the their three-match series of the 2013 Major League
Baseball regular season.
With their win, the Royals also secured a much needed series win in front of their home crowd. Twins started the series on a very aggressive note, claiming a comfortable 3-0 win in the opener but they failed to capitalise on their
psychological advantage.
Royals bounced back brilliantly in the following game to stay alive in the series. With momentum on their side, Joe Maddon and company continued the good work on Thursday and fittingly grabbed a 2-1 series win over their American
League Central division rivals.
Starting pitcher Wade Davis had an outstanding time on the mound as he allowed just three runs in five innings while striking out six batters. However, it was relief pitcher Tim Collins, who walked away with a win after he pitched
two perfect innings. Luke Hochevar and closer Greg Holland also made valuable to contributions to help the Royals hold on to their four run lead.
"We're getting better. We're starting to come out of it," Royals manager Ned Yost said. "The offense looks like it's starting to turn the corner a little bit."
"You can see a little more chemistry and contagious hitting-type things like tonight, and a little bit yesterday, chipping away and chipping away," Davis said. "We're not going to wake up and be the best in baseball."
"That first inning had some weird stuff happen," Davis added. "I just kept telling myself, `Keep it right there,' especially when we scored the two runs. It gave me extra motivation to bear down."
After Ryan Doumit homered to right in the first innings to give Twins the early 3-0 lead, Chris Getz and Sean Perez combined to bring Royals back into the contest. Eric Hosmer singled to right, Billy Butler drove in a double and
Lorenzo Cain homered to left in the eighth inning as Royals came back from behind to stun their opponents.
