Kansas City Royals defeat Boston Red Sox 6-4 – MLB Update
Kansas City Royals defeated Boston Red Sox 6-4 at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri on Tuesday, May 8 in the second game of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
With their win, the Royal also improved their record to 10-19, an astonishing achievement considering the kind of start they had made to their regular season campaign.
Eric Hosmer, Chris Getz and Mike Moustakas looked extremely comfortable on the mound as they helped the Royals come back from behind to take 3-2 lead in the second, which dented Red Sox’s confidence levels.
"The way things have been going, we haven't been coming back in games. Hopefully that gets us going," Billy Butler said. "Hopefully we can feed off that."http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/_/id/29207/chris-getz"It was huge," Royals manager Ned Yost said afterward.http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/_/id/32029/kelvin-herrera"It was my worst outing of the year," Starting pitcher Danny Duffy said. "My teammates had my back the whole time and Billy hit that bomb, I was the happiest guy in the world."
"It was really weird," Daniel Bard said in an interview. "I can't remember the last time I balked in my life, ever."
Making the most of available opportunities, Kansas City outclassed their opponents in finer details of the game. The Red Sox secured a comfortable 11-5 win in the opening game and taking into account the Royals’ poor form, they were the favourites to secure
series sweep. However, the Royal stuck to their game plan right from the start of the contest to frustrate their rivals.
Royals’ win against Boston was only their third of the season at Kauffman Stadium. Fans will also be very pleased to see their team winning after a long losing streak. The season has just begun and the Royals will have plenty of opportunities to get over
the .500 win percentage mark.
Boston, on the other hand, once again failed to handle the pressure. Bobby Valentine and company will be extremely disheartened by their efforts since the start of the season and they will be looking to get things back on track in the decisive finale of
the series.
