Kansas City Royals designated hitter Billy Butler set for All-Star Game – MLB News
Kansas City Royals’ five-year veteran Billy Butler is getting ready to play his first All-Star game after being selected for All-Star Futures Game Most Valuable Player in 2006.
Having hit with an average of .294 in this ongoing Major League Baseball season, he gets the prized All-Star selection and this is his first as well.
Currently Butler is also aiming high and hoping for a good outing on July 10. Recently he has also spoken in the media and stated in detail about his preparations for the All-Star Game.
Butler commented to reporters about his selection and his preparations as he said, “It’s going to be crazy, but it’s going to be great. We’ve got a lot of people coming in — a lot of family coming in. It’s going to be fun. It’s neat that I’ll get to share it with them. Davvy’s been great in getting things arranged, Katie is in Idaho right now with her family, but she’s got a head count. She knew what we needed, and Davvy took care of it.”
Billy added by discussing the jubilation he is feeling for the coming Game and said, “This is a very high honor, and I’m very proud to get it. I’m so happy that it’s going to be at our ballpark.”
Royals’ manager Ned Yost and trainer Nick Kenney, who are also in the American League Squad, have spoken about Butler’s selection in the media with great words.
Meanwhile, according to some experts, who have been watching Butler’s game with deep interest, spoke in the media that this All-Star selection will boost his confidence and his performance will also increase in the coming days.
So far with a .294 hitting average along with 16 homers, 52 RBIs and .365 OBP certainly suggests that he is a solid hitter and his stats are surely the main reason he got the All-Star selection.
Not only Butler’s season performance is quite consistent but his career .297 hitting along with 90 home-runs, 425 RBIs and .360 OBO also makes him a good role player in the Royals’ roster.
