Kansas City Royals dominate New York Yankees 6-0 – MLB Update
Kansas City Royals dominated New York Yankees 6-0 at Yankee Stadium in New York, NY on Monday, May 21 in the opening game of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
For the Royals, Mike Moustakas had an excellent time on the field as he homered to right in the first inning to put his team 2-0 ahead. Eric Hosmer double to deep left in the third put Kansas City in a very strong position.
Jeff Francoeur had a two-run home run shot in the seventh to help the Royals take complete control of the situation. Yankees’ starting pitcher Hiroki Kuroda paid the ultimate price for his errors on the mound, allowing three runs and seven hits in just over 5 innings, which raised his season ERA to 4.56.
"At times, it looks like there's 20 people out there playing defense," Derek Jeter said. "It happens every year. It happens to every team. It doesn't look good when you're going through it, but you've got to have confidence."
"You're going to hear it on the road, and you're going to hear it at home when you don't play well," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. "It's because our fans are passionate and they want us to win. And I understand that. So do the guys in that room. If they're unhappy with us, believe me, we're probably unhappier."
The Royals continued to show signs of improvement as they put up a strong show against the mighty Yankees at Yankee Stadium. Kansas City made a poor start to their 2012 regular season campaign but it seems things are finally settling down for them.
Outshining the Yankees in almost all departments of the game, the Royals improved their record to 17-24 on Monday’s evening and it will be interesting to see if they can give similar performances in their upcoming games to earn a rare series sweep at Yankees’ home ballpark.
New York’s woes continued as they suffered their sixth loss in just seven games. Joe Girardi and company will be frustrated with their performances over the last week and it will be exciting to see if they can turn the tables in the second game.
