Kansas City Royals edge its way against New York Yankees, thrashing them to earn a 5-11 away win
NEW YORK -- Kansas City Royals dominated the first half of the game against New York Yankees on May 12th, with 41,790 spectators in the Yankee Stadium, New York, watching the impressive Royals’ offence. Royals won their last game against the Yankees
on Wednesday, 11th May, 4-3, and dominating the game from the beginning, Yankees won the first by 3-1 on the 10th of May. With the 5-11 win yesterday, Royals are now leading the series, 2-1.
Yankees found themselves in trouble as Royals hitters opened the floodgate of runs in the second inning when Ivan Nova started pitching. Sean O'Sullivan, the starting pitcher for Kansas City Royals had pitched two scoreless innings by then.
The runs started to come Royals’ way through a homer by Eric Hosmer. Hosmer hit an impressive homerun to get the Royals their first run.
Mike Aviles reached an infield single to third to take the score to 2, compounding Nova’s predicament.
Melky Cabrera scored the third run of the inning. Melky Cabrera doubled to shallow left to register another run on the scoreboard for Royals.
Following Cabrera, Alex Gordon scored on a throwing error and then Billy Butler scored the fifth run for Royals. The sixth run came from Jeff Francoeur, who singled right to take the score to 6.
Emboldened by the tremendous display of batting by Kansas, Sean O'Sullivan was remarkably successful in limiting the Yankees’ offence. Despite concerted efforts, by the end of the fourth inning, New York Yankees had yet to open their account, trailing by
6-0.
Melky Cabrera scored the seventh run for Royals in the fourth inning while the New

York Yankees had still not scored even a single run. Thereafter, Billy Butler kept the flow of runs going for Kansas City Royals.
Ivan Nova, struggling to contain the Royals’ offence, was then doomed by another hit. Butler singled to centre to make it 8-0 for Royals by the end of the fourth inning, leaving Yankees unable to score their first run.
In the end, Yankees did manage to score 5 runs but in comparison to Royals’ 11, they had been completely thrashed at their home ground.
