Kansas City Royals fight back 8-2 to level series against Cleveland Indians – MLB Update
Kansas City Royals fought back to level series 1-1 as they outclassed Cleveland Indians 8-2 at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio on Tuesday, May 29 in the second game of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
Will Smith displayed some top quality pitching skills as he won for the first time in majors to lift Royals to an important win against Cleveland. He allowed just two runs, walked two and struck out five.
"I'm very clean," he said, "and very happy."
"It's just awesome," he further added. "An amazing feeling. You think of what it will be like your whole life. Just getting to the big leagues, and then to win? It's a dream come true."
"I just got mad and went after them," he said. "It sure helps when your offense puts up some runs. I can't thank them enough."
Kansas City will be extremely pleased to keep the series alive. Considering Royals’ poor 20-28 record so far, it is crucial for them to win games consistently to have any chance of making it to the World Series finals.
Cleveland Indians, on the other hand, will be disappointed with their effort on Tuesday. Leaders of American League Central division will be looking to bounce back strongly in the decisive finale to regain some confidence. Despite Royals making a large number
of unforced errors, Manny Acta’s side was unable to find winning ways.
"I must confess, that had to be the most boring game I have ever been part of," Acta said. "That second inning just sucked all the energy out of us."
Mike Moustakas provided the Royals with an excellent start as he homered to right centre to put his team 2-0 ahead. Jose Lopez and Michael Brantley put up a brilliant show in the first to help the Indians level score at 2-2 as the game entered a very interesting
phase.
Humberto Quintero had another great outing on Tuesday evening as he added two RBI’s. Alex Gordon, Quintero and Moustakas helped Kansas City take an impassable 8-2 lead in the sixth which lasted till the end of the game.
