Kansas City Royals humble Cleveland Indians 8-2 – MLB Update
Kansas City Royals humbled Cleveland Indians 8-2 at the Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio on Wednesday, April 25 in the second game of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season. With their win over the Indians on Wednesday evening, the Royals have also levelled the series at 1-1.
Billy Butler was absolutely brilliant for the Royals as he hit two home runs to help his team establish complete control over the contest. Butler’s first homer came in the first inning and he hit another one in the ninth to put the Indians completely out of the equation.
"A big win, we all felt it and now we want to go run with it," Butler said. "There's too much talent on this team to be losing."
Eric Hosmer also made a valuable contribution, hitting a towering home run into the left field in the fifth to give the Royals 4-0 lead.
Alex Gordon’s three run home run in the ninth was one of Royals’ four home runs on Wednesday evening. It will be interesting to see if Kansas City can play a similar brand of baseball in third game. Starting pitcher Luke Hochevar also played a key role in deciding the outcome of the clash as he allowed only four hits and two runs in just over six innings.
"A huge start by Hochevar, after they whacked him around pretty good last time," Yost said.
"Fans have expectations of this team," Manager Ned Yost said. "Well, these guys do, too. They have all been together as winners in the minors. This has been tough, but they are going to break out."
"I didn't really tweak it, it's just a little weak," Hochevar said. "I can still make plays. I'll be OK."
Royals’ win over the Indians will be of great significance for them as it can provide them with much needed confidence. With just 4 wins 14 defeats this season, the Royals have clearly struggled to find their form since the start of 2012 season but if they end the series on a high note in the finale, the momentum will definitely shift towards them.
