Kansas City Royals humiliate Cleveland Indians 12-0 – MLB Update
Kansas City Royals effortlessly beat the Cleveland Indians 12-0 on Friday, July 29 at Progressive Field.
Melky Cabrera hit an exhilarating grand slam and Jeff Francis went for eight strong innings to wrap up the game in the Royals’ favour.
However, there was an ugly moment in the game which should have been avoided. Carlos Carrasco threw a wild pitch at Butler that aroused the wrath of the entire Kansas City Royals and invited the anger of the Indians’ manager himself.
"That's not professional," Butler said. "I understand the game. You don't go above the shoulders."
"I was yelling to hit him in the leg or hit him in the side," Francoeur said. "You don't throw at someone's head. You could really hurt somebody."
When the Indians’ team manager was asked what he thought of it, he commented. "We don't condone throwing at people's heads," Acta said. "He was talked to by (pitching coach Tim Belcher). That's a dangerous situation."
Friday’s game was started with Billy Butler’s two-run homer that came in the very first inning against Carlos Carrasco. The 3-hit two-run first inning gave an early lead to the Royals which their starter Jeff Francis defended with impeccable skill.
Francis pitched a scoreless first followed by Alex Gordon’s one-run RBI in the second for the Royals. While Carrasco was then able to pitch a shut-out third, little did he anticipate what was coming his way in the fourth.
Cabrera hit a grand slam to not only cheer the team but also the crowd which thunderously celebrated the brilliant hit. Having got a 7-0 lead, Francis was exceptionally strong and maintained the lead for the team.
While Carrasco was ejected after his horrendously dangerous direct throw at Butler, Alcides Escobar scored on Chad Durbin’s fastball, giving the team an 8-0 lead. Francis maintained his lead throughout the game only to win the team’s admiration.
Coming into the seventh inning, Frank Herrmann replaced Durbin, but could not stop the run flow as Gordon hit another two-run RBI to take the lead to 10-0 for the team. Butler and Brayan Pena took it to 12-0 by the end of eighth inning.
Francis was able to pitch a shut-out eighth to finish his spell while Blake Wood threw a scoreless ninth to turn the 12-0 lead into an easy victory for the Kansas City Royals.
