Kansas City Royals’ look confident ahead of 2012 season – MLB News
The Kansas City Royals’ entire roster is sitting pretty easy in this offseason and does not look too upset ahead if 2012.
Recently, their star first baseman Eric Hosmer spoke to the media and told reporters about his and other teammates’ offseason activities as how they are preparing for the next Major League Baseball season.
Apparently several reporters also asked him questions regarding the New York Yankees’ slugger Alex Rodriguez, who invited him for a private hitting session some two month ago.
Hosmer replied saying it was an opportunity for him to attend that particular session with a star professional. He said that private session will help him whenever the next season starts.
Hosmer added, “It’s an opportunity you can’t really pass up. I got the grasp of Twitter down a little bit better (this offseason). So it’ll be cool this year. It’s a long season. We plan on playing in October. You start your hitting process a little later, just so when October rolls around, you’re still fresh.”
The Royals’ finished fourth in American League Central behind Chicago White Sox after winning 71 games at .438 percent. Though last year was a well crafted performance by the Royals but still they now want some more striking performances to improve their previous winning percentage.
On the other hand, the Royals have signed some new players from the current free agency market that will also help them start a new season with postive energy.
Royals' general manager Dayton Moore is also hopeful regarding the next MLB season. Earlier, some two months ago during the annual general manager’s meeting in Milwaukee, he assured his top management of convincing results next season.
Moore also particularly mentioned Eric Hosmer in that particular meeting and praised his game with high regard. Not only Moore but Royals' left-fielder Alex Gordon also praised Hosmer’s game.
“He showed us last year what kind of player he is, on and off the field,” Alex Gordon says. “I think there were expectations on him last year, and look what he did.”
However, looking at overall performance of Kansas City Royals’ last season, many say, it will be better next season.
