Kansas City Royals lose to Texas Rangers 6-7 in thriller – MLB Update
Kansas City Royals lost to the Texas Rangers 6-7 in a thrilling encounter at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri on Wednesday, September 5 in the finale of their four match series.
After the Rangers took an early 3-0 lead, Billy Butler turned things around for the Royals as he doubled to deep right centre in the first inning. Sean Perez added a double to deep centre in the sixth inning to take the score 3-2 as the match entered a very
exciting phase.
Jeff Francoeur, Mike Moustakas and Alcides Escobar all made valuable contributions with the bat but the Rangers were too strong.
Royals’ starting pitcher Everett Teaford took his fourth loss of the season after allowing three hits and three runs in just over four innings.
"Those guys aren't worrying about that," Rangers’ manager Ron Washington said. "If we take care of our business, it doesn't matter what they do."
"I saw his charts yesterday and the whole chart was like, red against lefties. It's basically a heat map. Red would describe Kansas City in July, that kind of hot," Teaford said. "If you make a bad pitch, he hits it real well. He's tough. You've just got
to hope to make good pitches."
Rangers secured a comfortable win in the series opener but Royals fought back superbly in Game 2 to keep the series alive. With home conditions working in their favour, the Royals were the firm favourites to clinch the series victory but Rangers had other
ideas.
Showing great composure and courage, Ron Washington and his men produced a masterful performance in the third to improve their record to 81-55. Credit should be given to the batting line-up that helped Texas come back from behind to claim a memorable victory.
Royals, on the other hand, will be extremely disappointed with the result of the game. Despite doing all the right things during the contest, they were unable to cross the winning line. Although Ned Yost and company are out of the playoff race, they still
want to end the season on a positive note to cheer up their disappointed fans.
