Kansas City Royals’ outperformed by Texas Rangers 2-4 – MLB Recap
The Kansas City Royals lost to the Texas Rangers 2-4 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Saturday, August 4 at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City.
Josh Hamilton and Scott Feldman played brilliantly and earned a great victory for their team. Both player showed their huge commitment and proved a winning factor for the Rangers.
"It's been very timely, He's been our security blanket, really. Things go wrong in the rotation and we've been able to just plug him and he eats up innings,” manager Ron Washington said on his team’s tremendous combined effort where his players rattled the Royals with big energy.
Feldman with his pitching and Hamilton with the bat showed enormous power and edge past the Royals’ with ease.
Feldman pitched 7.2 innings and allowed only two runs and six hits along with two earned runs. He retired four hitters and held his opposing batters with no homer on his 4.52 ERA.
"I've just sort of gone about my business and felt the same way the whole year, It's just nice to get an opportunity to go in there and help out keep my focus on that, making good pitches," Feldman said later in the game explained about his outing in which he played a key role in his team’s success.
Hamilton on the other end, played well with the bat and did a decent job as he added two RBIs on his five at-bats.
"It's like the '09 Feldman, He's throwing the ball good, mixing his pitches up well. He's getting the job done. He's keeping the ball down. Everything has got so much movement on it," Hamilton said.
On the other hand, Royals’ starter Will Smith pitched 5.2 innings and allowed four runs and eight hits along with four earned runs on his 6.00 ERA.
He could have done much better but due to his extra way-ward deliveries, his control suddenly lost its speed as he was hammered with big hits.
On the whole it was well fought game by the Rangers’ as they went early into lead and later left the Royals’ home field with pride.
