Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Danny Duffy injured with torn elbow ligament – MLB News
The Kansas City Royals are currently facing some serious issues to tackle with some of their key players’ injuries and their future playing chances in the ongoing Major League Baseball season.
Recently their starting pitcher Danny Duffy was injured with a torn elbow ligament and needs surgery to repair.
On Tuesday, the Royals team doctors have revealed that their potential ace pitcher is injured with torn elbow ligament and the reports are suggesting that in the next coming days, his surgery will be performed.
Royals’ manager Ned Yost said explaining his player’s condition in detail, “The bad news is it stinks, He’ll probably be out a year. The good news is when he comes back, the way they’ve been doing these surgeries, he’s going to be every bit as strong or stronger. He’ll be ready to resume his career.”
At the moment, the Kansas City baseball franchise has put Duffy on 15-day disabled due to his serious condition.
Though, during that particular game in which Duffy was injured, team management did not say anything regarding any potential replacement, but now news is coming that the Royals have called right hander pitcher Nathan Adcock from their farm system/minor league team in the Duffy’s absence.
“I need to find out what it is. I haven’t felt it in the last couple of starts. I did (Sunday) after that second pitch, but I didn’t feel it at all in the bullpen. I did everything I can to prepare and take care of it. We’ll just have to see what it is.” said Duffy after suffering the injury.
Before getting injured, the Royals pitcher performed on a consistent pace achieving 3.90 ERA along with 2-2 win loss record, 28 strike-outs and 1.59 WHIP.
On the other hand, his career 5.28 ERA along with 6-10 win loss record, 115 strike-outs and 1.61WHIP also makes him a productive player.
With Duffy’s recent injury, the Royals have certainly lost a good player for at-least a month now, but if his injury does prolong for couple of months, the damage will be much bigger for them.
