Kansas City Royals stun Milwaukee Brewers 4-3 – MLB Update
Kansas City Royals showed great fighting abilities and mental strength as they edged Milwaukee Brewers 4-3 at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri on Wednesday, June 13 in the second game of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball.
Ned Yost and company showed incredible bounceback ability to keep the series alive. The Royals secured a narrow 2-1 win in the opening game and they continued to play brilliantly under pressure on Wednesday evening to improve their record to 26-34.
It will be interesting to see if Kansas City can continue their impressive form in their upcoming games to change the course of their destiny.
In a game that was played on an extremely competitive note, Billy Butler drove in a run to play a key role in deciding the outcome of the clash. Butler grounded out to shortstop in the first inning to put the Royals 1-0 ahead.
"We've been really focusing on our approach, a relaxed approach, and it showed," said Royals manager Ned Yost, whose team hadn't scored more than two runs in a victory this month.
"Our lineup is good enough that no one has to be the guy," Eric Hosmer said. "If they're not pitching to you, let the next guy do it, and we did a good job of that tonight."
"It's too bad for him," Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said, "because he's thrown the ball well the last two games and hasn't come out with a win."
Aramis Ramirez reached on infield single to shortstop in the third inning to level score at 1-1 for the Brewers. Centre Fielder Carlos Gomez also displayed some high quality batting skills as he sacrificed to catcher in the ninth to put his side Milwaukee
Brewers in a commanding position, leading the score 3-1.
Credit must be given to Royals’ offence for the way they handled their nerves under pressure. Alcides Escobar tripled to deep left centre in the bottom of the ninth to level score and Mike Moustakas drove in a tie breaking run in the eleventh inning to seal
an emphatic victory for the Royals.
