Diamondbacks 7-3- MLB Update
Kansas City Royals continued to show signs of improvement as they thrashed Arizona Diamondbacks 7-3 at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri on Saturday, May 19 in the second game of their
three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
Manager Ned Yost will be a very pleased man these days. He was under a great deal of criticism after the Royals lost majority of their games earlier this season. Credit must be given to the Royals for the fighting abilities, mental strength and determination
they have shown us over the last few weeks.
With their win against the Diamondbacks on Saturday, Yost and company improved their win-loss record to 16-23 and if they can continue to play similar kind of baseball in their upcoming games, surely they will get over the .500 win percentage mark before
the All Star break.
"The first four innings it was very tough," Starting pitcher Bruce Chen said. "I scrambled but my defense did a real good job. That's the only thing you can do is keep your composure and don't show your teammates that you are struggling."
"He did a great job of really minimizing the damage to the point where they couldn't score until the seventh inning," Royals manager Ned Yost said. "It's a sign of a veteran pitcher that can still keep his composure and make pitches when he needs to especially
in crunch time and Bruce did that all night long."
Arizona had the better of the Royals in the opening game as they adopted an aggressive approach to secure a 6-4 win. However, they will have to make some changes in their strategy in the finale to avoid yet another series’ loss. It will be interesting to
see which one of these two teams come out on top on May 20.
Chris Getz looked extremely comfortable on the plate as he singled to centre to help his team take 1-0 lead in the second inning. The Royals continued to attack their opponents and Billy Butler and Mike Moustakas had home run each to give their team an impassable
6-0 lead in the sixth.
