Kansas City Royals thrash Chicago White Sox 7-2 – MLB Spring Training
Kansas City Royals thrashed Chicago White Sox 7-2 at the Surprise Stadium in Surprise, Arizona on Friday, March 30 in their Grapefruit League encounter of the 2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training Session.
For the Royals, Alex Gordon displayed some high quality hitting skills as he went 2 for 2 with a two run home run. Scoring two runs, he played key role in his sides’ superb victory. Gordon had a decent time on the plate last season. He will be hoping to
win the American League Most Valuable Player award this year.
"My whole focus was getting ready for the year and not worry about this contract stuff, even though it was something I wanted to happen," Gordon said.
"This upcoming year I think is going to be special for myself and my teammates," Gordon said.
"It just helps you sleep easier knowing Alex is going to be here. Alex leaves nothing on the field at the end of the day. He's played with every bit of ounce of passion and talent he has every single day. It's very comforting to know we have these special
players here for a long time."
The Royals will be very happy with the way performed against one of the strongest teams in Major League Baseball American League. Showing their composure, class, temperament and determination, the Royals established their control over the contest right from
the start.
Not allowing their opponents easy opportunities to score freely, the Royals held the White Sox to just two runs in a game that proved to be fairly one sided. The Royals have a decent 15-13 win-loss record this season and they will be hoping to achieve similar
results during the regular season as well.
While winning the World Series finals may not be an easy task for them, the Royals can make themselves proud by reaching the playoffs. It will be interesting to see if the Royals can live up to their fans’ expectations.
The White Sox, on the other hand, will be disappointed with their weak display. They had plenty of chances to put their rivals under pressure but lack of concentration resulted in a disaster for them.
