Kansas City Royals thrash Los Angeles Dodgers 8-5 – MLB Spring Training
Kansas City Royals thrashed Los Angeles Dodgers 8-5 at the Camelback Ranch in Glendale, Arizona on March 15 in their Cactus League game of the 2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training Sessions.
The Dodgers will be very disappointed with the outcome of the game. It will be fair to say that the Angeles created all sorts of problems for their opponents during the contest but they were outplayed in finer details of the game.
Eric Hosmer was the star of the show for the Royals as he had a crucial hit and he drove in four runs to keep his team in the hunt. Lorenzo Cain also made a useful contribution with the bat for Kansas City. For Dodgers, reliever Todd Coffey delivered a hit
that drew attention from everyone in the stadium.
"I haven't got a hit since high school," said the 6-foot-4, 240-pound Coffey, who lumbered down the first-base line after dropping a single into shallow right in the fourth. "I only had one then. In high school, I was 1 for 3. I don't remember what it was.
Way too long ago."
"That put me on the DL for a month," said Coffey, who spent more time talking about his hit than he did about the three hits and one run he yielded in 1 1/3 innings. "After that, I definitely decided I'd at least learn how to swing a bat."
The Royals haven’t made the most of available opportunities since the start of spring. With just 7 wins in thirteen games, Ned Yost and his men are definitely struggling to execute their game plan. Royals’ win over the Dodgers can be of significant importance
for the team as it can provide them with confidence and momentum in second half of the Spring Training.
Royals’ only World Series triumph was recorded in 1985 when they displayed some high quality baseball skills. Their last West Division title also came in the same year. The fans want their team to compete harder to stand a better chance of making it to the
World Series this season. It will be interesting to see if the Royals can make history in 2012.
