Kansas Volleyball Association All-Star Match bagged by Red Team – Volleyball news
The Kansas Volleyball Association (KVA) All-Star Match that is held on an annual basis, took place on June 3rd in which the participating teams were named Red Team and Blue Team. Each team consisted of the top most volleyball players in the state
of Kansas and were shortlisted by the Kansas Volleyball Association itself. When the prestigious match reached its close, the Red team emerged victorious.
The Red Team was able to hand out a defeat to the Blue Team in five long and grueling sets. By the time that the Red Team had sealed the deal, the score board displayed the following final set scores:  25-20, 18-25, 17-25, 25-23 and 15-12.
KVA provides a unique opportunity to young athletes that have been participating in high school tournaments to be a part of a higher level of volleyball play. Molly O’Hagan, who is a graduate of Tonganoxie and a member of the Red Team spoke about the KVA
match-up and said, “We all compete against each other during high school and club. Being invited to this game means you are a standout player. So we are all standout players coming together. It is kind of a funny situation because most of us are all captains
and we’re thrown together, so when we break down huddle we kind of hesitate to see who is going to take control.”
In order to give the chance to the players to develop team synergy, a practice session took place before the actual match. The positive effect of the session showed in how well both the teams played the actual match.
The start of the first set of the game went in favor of the Red Team. As a result, they were able to stay in control all through the match. The Blue Team tried to destabilise the momentum of the Red Team but they were not effective in stopping them from
winning the first set of the game by 25-20.
Losing the opening set of the game sent a much needed wakeup call to the Blue Team. As a result, they were able to step up their game and rally together to give the Red Team a significant challenge. The Blue Team was so effective in their endeavour that
they were able to win both the second as well as the third sets by a comfortable margin of 25-18 and 25-17 respectively.
The fourth set took on a more intense tone as the Red Team tried hard to stop the Blue Team from making another win. The Red Team was successful in claiming the fourth set at 25-23 and they also went on to win the fifth at 15-12.
