Former Indian Skipper, Kapil Dev, feels that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) should bring about an increase in the Indian players’ pay in order to draw their attention from the lucrative domestic competitions such as the Indian Premier League
(IPL) or the Champions League Twenty20 (T20) competition, in order for them to focus more towards national duty.
According to the Times of India, Kapil said that both T20 competitions are being governed by the BCCI, yet the players get more money for representing a club rather than the nation.
Based on figures, the BCCI offers annual contracts of a maximum $200000 to players, with additional match fees; which are different under every format. On the other hand, for the IPL, a top cricketer can easily earn an income worth $1 million.
“Let them pay more to those who play for India, then we’ll see how many of our players skip series,” Kapil said while delivering his http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820.
During his lecture, the former Indian all-rounder also spoke about the national side’s recent, disappointing tour to England, where the Men in Blue suffered a clean sweep across all formats of the sport, at the hands of the Poms.
However, to add more to the team’s misery, apart from a bag of defeats, the tourists also suffered a streak of injuries which restricted many senior players, such as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/V-Sehwag-c2739, from participating in the remaining fixtures.

Kapil said that the players’ over-commitment with the last IPL, which began days after http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 won the World Cup title, did not allow the team to unwind and celebrate their win. He further added that soon after the players wrapped up their IPL duties, they
got back on the squad and toured http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, and then England; and all such factors led to their eventual debacle in England.
“The Indian team couldn’t even get time to unwind and enjoy their World Cup triumph. They got just four days before the IPL began. When you don't get enough time to unwind you lose the passion to play. That's what happened in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013,” said Kapil.
