Karachi Zebras v Multan Tigers – Faysal Bank T-20 Cup, 2012/13 (Group A) – Match Update – Tigers win by 17 runs
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Multan-c819 Tigers’ concentrated bowling attack proved to be their main strength during their Group A match in the ongoing Faysal Bank T-20 tournament, and enabled them to claim a 17-run win over the Karachi Zebras at the Lahore City Cricket Association Ground
today on December 6.
The Zebras won the toss and decided to field first – however, the team was unable to do full justice to their decision. While the bowling attack, spearheaded by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Haaris-Ayaz-c1521 (4-0-22-2), was able to ensure that only four of the Tigers’
batsmen progressed beyond single-digit scores, Multan’s key contributors enabled them to work their way up to a decent total.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kashif-Naved-c70396 (14*) were the only other main contributors,
and managed to team up for a steady 52-run partnership for the 6th wicket.
However, the rest of the batsmen were unremarkable – opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Naved-Yasin-c2081 (3) were dismissed almost immediately by Haaris Ayaz. However, owing to the handful of substantial contributions,
the team managed to post a final total of 140 by the end of 20 overs.
The Tigers then proceeded to launch an intense bowling attack, spearheaded by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Irfan-c76983 (4-1-17-2) bringing up the rear. Much like the Tigers’ innings, only four of the Zebras’ batsmen succeeded
in registering double-digit scores. However, the handful of contributions did not prove sizeable enough to allow the team to execute a successful chase.
The efforts of wicketkeeper batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Fahad-Iqbal-c56668, Rumman
Raees, and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tabish-Khan-c92563 – were all sent packing on duck, and within 20 overs, the Zebras were all out at 123, with the Tigers clinching a 17-run victory.
