Karachi Zebras v Quetta Bears – Faysal Bank T-20 Cup, 2012/13 (Group A) – Match Update – Zebras claim 7-wicket victory
The Karachi Zebras prolonged the Quetta Bears’ losing streak in the ongoing Faysal Bank T-20 tournament by claiming a 7-wicket victory, courtesy an unbeaten half-ton from Fahad Iqbal, in their Group A match played at the Lahore City Cricket Association Ground,
on December 4.
The Bears won the toss and chose to bat first, but only enjoyed a brief early burst before undergoing a batting order collapse. Opening batsmen http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohibullah-c77561 (44) and Mir Wais (21) set up a quick partnership worth 44 runs, which came to an end in the 5th
over, with the dismissal of Mir Wais off Faraz Ahmed (4-0-22-3).
Mohibullah went on to set up another steady partnership, this time a 38-run stand for the second wicket with Sabir Hussain (14). Their combined efforts got the team up to 82 by the 13th over, after which http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sabir-Hussain-c87775 found himself trapped lbw
by Haaris Ayaz (4-0-23-3). Mohibullah’s final effort was a 32-run stand with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Haaris-Ayaz-c1521, and the latter run out by Fahad Iqbal.
By this point, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Quetta-c835 were at 114 for 4.
From there onwards, it was a downhill slide for the Bears. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Faraz-Ahmed-c56773 and Rumman Raees (4-0-32-2) proved instrumental
in mopping up the tail, and by the end of 20 overs, with 9 wickets down, the Bears posted a middling final total of 125.
The Zebras, in comparison, breezed through their chase, courtesy an unbeaten half-century from Player of the Match, opening batsman Fahad Iqbal (53*). His fellow top-order batsmen, skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Daniyal-Ahsan-c52368 (2), were swept off the pitch by
Gohar Faiz (3-0-15-2) for paltry scores, but Faisal Iqbal (27) managed to join Fahad Iqbal for a 55-run stand for the 3rd wicket. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nasir-c78728 (23) kept the innings moving forward,
joining Fahad Iqbal for a 41-run partnership.
The 17th over saw http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Javed-Mansoor-c66578 (2*) got the team over the finish line, enabling the Zebras to
reach 126 with 7 wickets and 14 balls remaining.
