Karachi Zebras v http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sialkot-c842 Stallions – Faysal Bank T-20 Cup, 2012/13 (Group A) – Match Update – Stallions claim 8-wicket victory
An unbeaten half-century from skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shoaib-Malik-c90088 saw the Sialkot Stallions to a comfortable 8-wicket victory over the Karachi Zebras, in their match during the ongoing Faysal Bank T-20 Cup, played on December 3 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
The Stallions won the toss and chose to field first, and Adeel Malik (4-0-19-3) spearheaded the attack, aided by Naved-ul-Hasan and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Umaid-Asif-c2719, both of whom picked up one scalp each. The Zebras, in turn, were insipid, with none of the batsmen moving beyond
a top-score of 24.
Top-order batsmen http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Fahad-Iqbal-c56668 (12) were all dismissed early by Adeel Malik, although the two openers did manage to set up a 41-run partnership – the highest on their side.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Imran-Nazir-c64248 off Naved-ul-Hasan), Ahsan was unable to find any consistent batsmen to partner
with. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Faraz-Ahmed-c56773 (2) fell prey to Umaid Asif, and Rumman Raees (5*) joined Ahsan for an unbeaten 16-run partnership which got their team up to a mediocre final total of 111 by the end of 20 overs, at the expense of 5 wickets.
The target was hardly daunting, and predictably, the Stallions chased it down with ease, reaching 112 within 17 overs, and losing just 2 wickets in the process. The Zebras’ http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adeel-Malik-c41977 (1-0-5-1) remained the only bowler who claimed a wicket, while the rest
were powerless to defend their team’s total.
The Stallions’ openers Imran Nazir (9) and wicketkeeper batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shakeel-Ansar-c89546 (11) were unable to make much of an impression and made early exits, the former run out by Rumman Raees in the 3rd over, and the latter caught out by Faraz Ahmed off Adeel Malik
in the 6th over.
However, skipper and Player of the Match Shoaib Malik took charge of the innings, and smashed an unbeaten 50 off 31, including 2 sixes and 4 fours. He was aided by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Haris-Sohail-c61503 (34*), who joined him for an unbeaten 74-run partnership for the third wicket.
Their combined efforts got the team comfortably up to 112, with 8 wickets and 20 deliveries still remaining.
