Karaka Jack upsets App Store Handicap at Doncaster
Karaka Jack triggered a mammoth upset by beating hot favourite, Ellie In The Pink, to finish first in the high-profile Class 4 contest, Download William Hill From The App Store Handicap (Div 1) at the Doncaster racecourse, on Sunday, April 1.
At 14:30 (GMT), this amazing weekend, the David Nicholls-trained veteran gelding marvellously defeated 21 rivals, registering a sterling success after a long hiatus.
The winner’s (Karaka Jack) competitors were:

Polish World.
The mega marathon took place over a 7 furlong track, labelled good.
After breaking from Trap 16, Karaka Jack demonstrated a convincing run. Some of his rivals tried to impede his way to victory, but the brilliant horse impressively managed to move ahead, crossing the finish line first.
It was the fourth win of the gelding’s career that began in September 2009.
In the very next month of his debut, the dashing runner bagged two consecutive victories, while his third win came after a long gap, in July 2011.
Overall, the five-year-old horse has run for 25 times to date, earning £35,071 as prize money.
Yesterday’s success was indeed an unbelievable upset that none of the bookmakers and the spectators could even think of before the beginning of the event.
During the post-race presentation ceremony, Karaka Jack received immense applause from the punters and his fans.
The trainer was also pleased to see his pupil sealing an epic success.
Among the other runners, Celtic Sultan finished as the runner-up by a slight margin of ¾ of a length. The gelding had broken from Trap 19.
Sound Amigo clinched the third top spot after breaking from Trap 17.
The hot favourite sprinter, Elie In The Pink stood 5th in the race.
Overall, it was an amazing and thrilling competition. The spectators enjoyed it a lot.
Karaka Jack’s victory is a prelude of his successful year ahead.
The meticulous gelding will surely be able to carry forward this winning momentum and amass more triumphs in the coming months.
