Los Blancos seem to be out of the Spanish La Liga race and their assistant coach, Aitor Karanka, wants his players to focus in the Cup competition.
Real Madrid are usually one of the teams who do not focus in the Copa del Rey.
Jose Mourinho is often quoted saying how he does not value cup competitions, but this time round, the assistant coach, Aitor Karanka, has stressed on the fact that Los Blancos will be competing in the precious competition and will be aiming to win it.
Los Blancos have already won a few games in the Cup competition, even though Mourinho mostly fields a second string side in the competition.
In his very first season at the Santiago Bernabeu, all Mourinho managed to accomplish was the Copa del Rey and now Aitor Karanka has told the press that they are once again trying to target the Cup competition and in their upcoming game against Celta, they will try and take a positive result to the Santiago Bernabeu.
“I can speak because I’m here at Real Madrid and we have never thrown the Copa del Rey. The coaching staff have given it the highest importance.”
“Celta are playing well. At San Mames they played a good match despite losing, so they’re doing well but we want to get a good result to take into the second leg at the Bernabeu.”
Real Madrid are currently not in a good position in the Spanish La Liga.
Los Blancos are trailing behind both their rivals, Atletico Madrid and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604.
While La Blaugrana are at the top, Atletico Madrid stand second, right above Los Blancos, who are the current Spanish champions.
This year is going to be difficult for them to win the Spanish La Liga; in fact, this season they will have to fight for the third spot as well, as the Spanish league is growing competitive and the competition is intense.
Therefore, the Spanish champions are targeting the Copa del Rey and the UEFA Champions League, the two competitions they are still competing in and have a chance of achieving something in them.
