Karate touraments?

i noticed that in some touraments the groin is open as a target and in some is not allowed or brown belt and lower the groin is ok as target but black belts is not allowed

This has changed over the years. For sport karate, there is "West Coast" sparring divisions that allow for groin shots. At most tournaments it's off limits.

Years ago when groin shots were allowed, people weren't always aiming for kicks to the head due to being open to groin shots. Now that groin shots are illegal, you see more people training for head kicks.

When I was competing, there were tournaments where light contact to the groin was allowed up in the higher ranks. Excessive contact resulted in a point penalty or disqualification.
