Karel Abraham of Cardion AB Motoracing finishes 11th in 2011 US Grand Prix – MotoGP news
Karel Abraham of Cardion AB Motoracing finished 11th at the 2011 MotoGP US Grand Prix.
Despite of a technical issue he dragged his Ducati across the finish line ahead of Loris Capirossi and Toni Elias.
The Czech rider was overtaken by San Carlo Honda Gresini rider Hiroshi Aoyama. The Japanese made his last effort over Abraham due to his hampered pace. Abraham completed his race 0.282 seconds behind Aoyama.
Abraham said, “Something in the rear suspension broke near the end of the race when I was getting close enough to overtake Hector Barbera. Basically I was sitting on my rear wheel, so the last two laps were really slow and I had to concentrate on not crashing
because the bike was moving all over the place.”
At the start of the race, Abraham was able to jump ahead and battle from a tenth position in the race. From that point onwards, he was in pursuit of fellow satellite Desmosedici rider Hector Barbera. At the moment, Barbera was leading with 1.405 seconds
from Abraham.
After spending 30 laps to chase Barbera, he was hampered by a suspension failure. The suspension issue slowed his lap times initially by eight and then eleven seconds to the finish line.
The Czech rider was merely able to complete the race as after his return to the pits, he explained the problem and told that the bike could not hold on to the track. His effort to finish race in tough situation was a job well done.
Abraham said, “Then on the last lap I couldn’t hold off Aoyama and he overtook me. I finished the race, though I'm not real satisfied with my result, but I’m looking forward to the next race which is the home Grand Prix for me and for my team.”
However, Abraham is now preparing for his home event at Brno, Czech Republic which is also a home event for his Cardion AB team.
