Karel Abraham of Cardion AB Motoracing hopes to return in Japanese GP – MotoGP news
Cardion AB Motoracing rider Karel Abraham is confident to race at the 15th MotoGP event, the Japanese Grand Prix taking place at the Twin Ring Motegi, Japan.
The sole Czech rider in premier class crashed during the Motorland Aragon event last weekend. He fell in the first lap and slid into the gravel after being catapulted from his Ducati machine.
Abraham said, “Despite the fact that the start is usually one of my biggest weaknesses, this time I started quite well and stayed in the middle of the field. Honestly, I cannot tell you what happened before the crash, it all happened too fast.”
The Cardion AB rider leapt in the air while taking a right hand turn in the first lap. While sliding towards the runoff gravel, the rear tyre of the bike hit his helmet which caused a severe jerk to his head.
Although he escaped any kind of severe injury but he experienced concussion for a while. In order to have a detailed check up, he was admitted to the hospital for a day. After consulting with the doctors, it was confirmed that he is in a condition to take
part in the Japanese event.
Abraham added, “Fortunately, I have nothing broken, only a slight concussion. I'm glad I didn't suffer any serious injury, but I'm disappointed with the way I ended this race weekend. I produced one of my best performances in the qualifying session and made
a promising start to the race, but then I crashed.”
The young Czech rider showed his hidden potential at the Motorland Aragon weekend. In the practice session, he was riding with a steady pace. While coming to the qualifying round, he was the top satellite Ducati rider on the grid.
He expressed that he is a little unconfident about the starts of the race but this time it was a strong start which ended up worse. Abraham also said that he was not able to tell any detail about how the accident triggered because everything happened in
a split second.
