Karen Lunn needs victory to snap out of performance slump
Australian Karen Lunn is fully fit to battle rivals at the upcoming Hero Women’s Indian Open, set to be played from November 30th to December 2nd, at DLF Golf & Country
Club, New Delhi, India.
Lunn, who currently stands at the 30th position in the Order of Merit 2012 by earning 73,280 euro, is going to capitalise on her vast experience at the three-round tournament and
win her second title for the season.
The Aussie star may not have done well in the second half of the 2012 Ladies European Tour (LET) season, but she is still able to repeat her winning form that helped her shine at the 2012
Lalla Meryem Cup.
Lunn won the Lalla Meryem Cup by shooting a total score of 272. Her performance was particularly good in the last three rounds as she posted a 66, 68 and 66 respectively.
As opposed to a decent form she showed early in the season, the LET titan lost her momentum in the final stages of the 2012 season as she missed a cut in six tournaments in a row—something,
observers said, put a deep dent in her reputation.
She then headed to China to take part in the China Suzhou Taihu Open, but her form remained jittery as she shot a 222 to finish tied for the 63rd position.
The last tournament, Sanya Ladies Open, was the scene of another big disappointment as Lunn failed to make the cut once again. She started the tournament in a shaky style and posted an unimpressive
79 in the first round.
The first-round score was enough to derail her and she kept faltering in the second round as well, as she ended up posting a 76.
Observers said that in order to end her winless stint that has seen her teetering on the course since Lalla Meryem Cup triumph, Lunn will have to reshape her game as she has been in professional
golf for a long time now.
Turning professional in February 1985, Lunn has been one of the few talented LET golfers, but a recent performance slump is taking a toll on her overall position.
Swedish Caroline Hedwall is going to defend her title at the Indian Open 2012.
Although the roster at Indian Open will be too difficult to crush as most of the big names are ready to prove their mettle, Lunn looks calm and collected and she will try to grab a lead early
in the tournament.
