Karen Lunn ready to putt her skills to test in Germany this month
Karen Lunn is ready to put her skills to the test at the Unicredit Ladies German Open 2012, scheduled to be played from May 24-27, at Golf Park Gut Hausern, Germany.
Lunn, who belongs to Australia, is being considered one of the hot favourite contenders for the coveted title. She kicked off the 2012 season in an impressive style, as she won the Lalla Meryem Cup, held in
Morocco.
Despite what Lunn is planning for the impending battle, the field in Germany will require plenty of effort and solid skills. According to the details, most of the key LET (Ladies European Tour) stars have confirmed
their participation, making the competition even tougher.
Some of the big players confirmed for the roster include the defending champion, Diana Luna, Trish Johnson, Laura Davies, Melissa Reid, Carly Booth who won the 2012 Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish
Open, Iben Tinning and Becky Brewerton.
Officials said that the field was set days ago, and this year’s edition is expected to attract a massive crowd. They said that four of the former winners will be gracing the tournament this year. In addition
to Luna, Laura Davies will also be eyeing the title. Davis won the 2010 edition of the tournament.
South Korean Amy Yang, who is the 2008 winner of the Ladies German Open, is also in the roster. Analysts said that Lunn will not find it easy to record a victory in Germany, however, she will likely put up
a tough fight and trouble rivals.
The Aussie star grabbed attention in Morocco, as she posted a decent 272 to grab a victory. She recorded a 66 in the final round, which speaks of her strength.
Analysts pointed out that the field in Germany will be far stronger than Lalla Meryem Cup, meaning the professional star will have to make all-out efforts to prove her worth.
However, the win in the current season has boosted her confidence. Speaking to the media after hoisting the trophy in Morocco, Lunn had said that she would now play more comfortably, as she had been able to
regain her lost momentum.
“This means I hopefully get to play in the Evian Masters, British Open, so it changes everything. It takes the pressure off early in the year. Obviously then you re-assess your goals,” she had said.
