Question

I bought my daughter a laptop for christmas. But I guess I'm a little stupid when it comes to computer. It said it came with wirless but how do I get it to hook up. Do I have to call the phone company and get a service for it. Or can I hook it to my home computer service and get it hooked up that way I just need a little help with getting started. Please
