for the chances that were blown away by the French.
While talking to reporters after the match, Benzema conceded that there is no shame in being beaten by a side which is probably the best team in the world these days.
"What evaded us this evening? We lost to the best team in the world. It was difficult, but we played well and had a great game.”
The Real Madrid striker believes that Spain were lucky to score a goal from their first real chance of the game and Le Bleus had an advantages over their opponents on certain occasions but failed to capitalize on that.
“In certain instances, we were better than them, but this is football.”
The 24-year-old stated the Le Bleus are a good team and are a work in progress. Disappointment at not scoring against the reigning champions is one thing but there are certain positives to be taken from the performance of Les Bleus.
"It's not a disappointment not to have scored. The only disappointment is that the team did not win, but we showed tonight that we are a good team."
Karim Benzema endured a terrible Euro 2012 campaign. The Frenchman failed to score in any of France’s four matches in the competition and that harmed Les Bleus’ chances in the tournament.
Laurent Blanc’s side managed to score only 3 goals in whole competition and conceded 5 goals in the process. Les Bleus are out of the European championship and a lot of hard work is required in order to make France a footballing power again.
