Karin Prinsloo claims Women’s 50m freestyle crown: 2011 All African Games – Day five
South Africa’s Karin Prinsloo put up a show great show on day five of the 2011 All African Games at the Zimpeto National Stadium, in Maputo, Mozambique, on Friday, September 9. The session of the meet conducted the Women’s 50m freestyle and 400m medley relay

earned bronze medal on the podium by posting a matchless time of 26.75 seconds.
Jessica Vieira of Mozambique was placed fourth in a time of 27.01 seconds, while Mariam Corsini of Mozambique earned fifth place honours with an intriguing mark of 27.02 seconds. Zaineb Khalfallah of Tunisia settled sixth in a time of 27.16 seconds. Algeria’s
Fella Benaceur finished seventh in a time of 27.77 seconds, while Jade Howard was placed eighth in 27.85 seconds.
On the other hand, the Women’s 400m medley relay crown was taken over by South Africa's team of Karin Prinsloo, Suzaan van Biljon, Mandy Loots and Natasha De Vos with a winning mark of 4 minutes and 14.00 seconds. In the corresponding meet, Zimbabwe took
home the silver medal on the podium by posting a striking time of 4 minutes and 24.01 seconds.
Algeria secured the bronze medal in the platform by submitting an impressive time of 4 minutes and 29.29 seconds, whereas, Mozambique earned fourth place in a time of 4 minutes and 34.98 seconds. In the corresponding race, Kenya was placed fifth in 4 minutes
and 50.01 seconds. Last, but not the least, Nigeria earned sixth in a time of 4 minutes and 52.52 seconds.
Earlier in the day, Kirsty Coventry of Zimbabwe clinched the Women’s 200m IM title with a winning mark of 2 minutes and 13.70 seconds. In the corresponding swim, Mandy Loots of South Africa earned silver medal in a time of 2 minutes and 15.71 seconds and
Kathryn Meaklim settled for bronze in a time of 2 minutes and 18.60 seconds. Sara Lajnef of Tunisia finished fourth in 2 minutes and 20.16 seconds and Samantha Welch of Zimbabwe settled fifth in 2 minutes and 30.02 seconds.
