Karin Prinsloo wins Women’s 100m freestyle title: Day one – 2011 All Africa Games
Day one of the 2011 All African Games got off to a riveting start with the impressive swim of South African swimmer, Karin Prinsloo in the final heat at the Zimpeto National Stadium, in Maputo, Mozambique, on Monday, September 5. The session of the meet
conducted the Women’s 100m freestyle, Women’s 50m back-stroke and Men’s 100m breast-stroke finals.
In the corresponding race, Karin Prinsloo of South Africa competed with her arch rivals with great diligence and skills to notch two gold medals in the 100m freestyle and 50m back-stroke final heats. At the beginning, Prinsloo won the 100m freestyle title
on the podium by posting a winning time of 56.05 seconds. Afterwards, she hit the wall in barely 29.28 seconds to win the Women’s 50m back-stroke crown.
In the corresponding meet, her countrywoman, Mandy Loots took home the silver title of the platform after she touched the finishing wall and ended her swim to submit an impressive time of 29.76 seconds. While speaking about her individual swims, Karin Prinsloo
commented that she had swam hard in these races and that she will definitely try to carry on with her winning form for futuristic events. 
On the other hand, Cameron van der Burgh of South Africa took home the Men’s 100m breast-stroke crown on the podium by posting a winning time of 1 minute and 02.44 seconds. The title was the third consecutive gold medal for South Africa. After the race,
Van Der Burgh was immensely excited and pleased with his splash.
In the corresponding swim, Wassim Elloumi of Tunisia captured silver medal on the podium after he touched the finishing wall and ended his swim to submit a matchless time of 1 minute and 03.17 seconds.
The arena applauded for the scintillating swims of all swimmers, while the winners were awarded medals and accolades after the session’s completion. 53 nations are participating in the 2011 All African Games, and the event is a great opportunity for young
guns to compete hard and gain experience to contend at the highest level.
