Karina Jorgensen treads into quarter-finals of 2012 Yonex Dutch Open
Denmark’s talented female shuttler Karina Jorgensen displayed commendable badminton skills and secured a berth in the quarter-final round of Yonex Dutch Open on October 11, 2012.
She overpowered Fabienne Deprez after an exhausting exercise of 44 minutes and the final figures of 17-21, 21-15 and 21-15 were proof of her dominance on the court.
Karina, who was placed at eighth spot in this tournament ranking, showed great fighting skills and locked the honour despite of losing the opening match point.
Meanwhile, the German girl squandered a golden opportunity of a straight-set win and bid farewell to the event in a disgraceful manner.
Fabienne looked in prime touch in first set of the match as she performed beyond expectations and stunned her higher ranked rival.
In first half of the set, she took some time to get on right track but then never looked back after gaining the right momentum.
She mounted pressure by prevailing in couple of uninterrupted rallies and then made best out of this psychological advantage in later part of the game.
Though, Karina showed some spark in third quarter of the set but it was not enough to avoid a 17-21 defeat.
However, she managed to make amends in very next game and levelled the match score with a strong reply.
She made her intentions clear by ruling the court in six rallies in a row and maintained this upper hand until last shot was played.
Karina ended first half of the set with a decent edge and kept on playing with positive approach in later part of the game.
She put her opponent under huge pressure raising the lead in third quarter of the set and then blew her away with a striking knock of 21-15.
The decider became crucial with this revised score position and both contenders started third set with an aggressive approach.
They remained close on points table until half time but then the Danish campaigner employed all of her brilliance in the game and cruised to victory with 21-15 total.
Now Karina Jorgensen will be up against Patty Stolzenbach of Netherlands in the quarter-final round of 2012 Dutch Open.
