Karine Icher still winless but in high spirits
French Karine Icher has a perfect swing and that is certainly her greatest strength on the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association), but she has yet to earn her first victory on the Tour.
Although Icher turned professional in 2000 and has been associated with the LPGA since 2003, earning her first victory on the Tour is still her biggest goal.
Despite not being able to live up to the expectations of her fans, Icher recorded some attention-grabbing finishes in 2012 season. She finished inside the top ten in six tournaments during
2012—something reflecting her battle for victory has entered into the most crucial phase now.
Observers said that the French star has been having problems with her game. Her swing and driving accuracy may still be intact, but a lousy short game has often caused her to regret poor performance.
As opposed to her winless stint on the LPGA Tour, Icher has proved her mettle on the LET (Ladies European Tour). She has won six tournaments on the Tour so far, and is also being regarded
as one of the possible star performers in the 2013 season.
Although Icher has been winless on the LET since her last triumph that she grabbed at the 2005 Catalonia Ladies Masters, her latest performance has shown that she is still a strong bet.
The last LPGA battle—CME Group Titleholders 2012—saw Icher in an aggressive form. She posted a total score of 280 to take the sixth position on the leaderboard. She got off to a fiery start
to her campaign as she shot a 67 in the first round.
The 33-year-old star could not make a strong start to the season, as she missed the cut in the first three tournaments.
“It’s hard to miss the first event of the year because obviously it's a limited field,” Icher said while speaking to the media during the second round of CME Group Titleholders.
She said that missing the cut was a real downer, but she soon overcame her jittery form and regained confidence.
“But you start the year after the girl who played already two or three events, so you're already back on the list, then everything can happen”.
