The former Werder Bremen striker believes that both Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund will fight until the end in order to get hold of the Bundesliga crown.
Karl-Heinz Riedle believes Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund will fight it out for the Bundesliga title and refused to name any favourites. He predicted that both teams will be neck-and-neck until May, and that the goal difference
could play a major role in the end.
Riedle added that Dortmund are gradually gaining confidence, and could rule Bayern in the years to come. He also urged the Black-Yellows to aim for a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League, and take revenge of this term’s
disappointing run in Europe. The 46-year-old added that the Borussians will definitely give the Reds a run for their money in the second-half of the season.
While talking to Goal.com, the former Borussia Dortmund attacker further stated:
"I think it will be close to the end. The goal for the season would be to secure a spot in the Champions League next year."
When asked about Dortmund’s star midfielder, Mario Gotze, Riedle admitted that the Westfalenstadion outfit might not be able to retain him for a lengthy period of time. He reckons that the teenager will ply his trade somewhere
abroad in future especially with the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429, Manchester United and Real Madrid interested in his services.
"In the long run the BVB will not be able to keep [Gotze]," Riedle further mentioned.
Riedle also reserved applause for Dortmund manager, Jurgen Klopp. He added that the former Mainz boss has been a blessing for the Borussians and it was probably the best decision to land him at the club in place of the former tactician,
Thomas Doll.
"Why not? Jurgen Klopp is the best thing that has ever happened to Dortmund,” Riedle concluded.
Dortmund are currently second in the league standings with 34 points from 17 games, winning 10 times and losing thrice in the process. The Borussians will take on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hamburger-SV-c39485 away from home on Sunday, January 22, and will be looking
to secure their 11th win in the league.
