The Bayern Munich chairman has expressed his delight after his side entered the final of the UEFA Champions League at the expense of Real Madrid.
Bayern Munich chairman, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, has revealed his excitement after his side defeated Real Madrid in the second semi-final of the UEFA Champions League to set a date with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 in the final on May 19. The Reds emerged
victorious in the penalty shootout after both sides finished level 3-3 on aggregate at the end of the extra time.
Rummenigge admitted that Bayern had a difficult start to the game after http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Portugal-c2984 international scored in the 6th and 14th
minute to put his team in ascendancy only to be punished by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Iker-Casillas-c16815 in the 27th minute to force the game into the extra-time.
The chief stated that it was the most important game of his career and is pleased with the prospect of playing the final in their own back yard. While addressing the reporters after the game, Rummenigge further added:
“We had a very bad start to the game. But it was the most emotional game of my career - and my career has been going for 40 years now. We are very proud and happy to be in the final. This is fantastic!"
On the other hand, Bayern president, Uli Hoeness hailed goalkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ronaldo-c31734 and Kaka during the shootout, enabling the Reds to progress further in the competition.
"Manuel Neuer was great. I thought I would die after Lahm missed the second penalty! It was hard because we had been two goals ahead. The greatest experience you can have in football is to play in a World Cup final or the final
of the Champions League. And it´s great to play the final in your own stadium," Hoeness concluded.
Bayern will now take on Chelsea in the final of the European competition on May 19 after http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Di Matteo’s men overcame Barcelona’s challenge in the first semi-final.
