Karl-Heinz Rummenigge calls for clean governance; labels FIFA as a money making machine
Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has called for top clubs to unite on the issue of clean governance. He wants to bring in a revolution to make football free from all types of corruption and bribery. The former Bayern Munich
star also criticized Sepp Blatter for his tamed efforts to control the problems and is now eager to make a change.
FIFA Presidential candidate Mohamed bin Hammam was given a life-ban for allegedly being involved in a bribery scandal which saw the 2022 World Cup being awarded to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Qatar-c2986. FIFA has heavily criticized for its controversial decisions
in the past few years and has sparked widespread anger amongst its members.
Rummenigge blasted FIFA in ruling the organization on its own terms and regarded the people involved as corrupt and non-serious. The CEO claimed that it is about time that all the clubs should unite and fight this matter as FIFA
is not capable of dealing them. He also blamed Blatter for making false promises and doing nothing good for the game itself.
“I don't accept any longer that we [should be] guided by people who are not serious and clean. It's not just the top clubs, it's all the clubs. Sepp Blatter is saying [that he is cleaning up] but the fact that no one believes him
tells you everything you need to know,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The Bayern Munich CEO also labelled FIFA as a money making machine and admitted that the system has to change as soon as possible. He stated that for the people involved, making money is the primary objective rather than clean
governance.
“I'm not optimistic because they believe the system is working perfectly as it is. It's a money machine, World Cup after World Cup. And for them, that's more important than serious and clean governance,” the Chairman concluded.
Sepp Blatter was criticized heavily for how he dealt with the corruption allegations issue. The President has since been involved in a war of words with Mohamed bin Hammam over the bribery charges and the latter has eventually
been charged with a life ban.
