Karl-Heinz Rummenigge insists clubs should follow the Financial Fair Play rules- Bundesliga news
Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has called for European clubs to follow the Financial Fair Play rules set by European governing body, UEFA. He criticized heavy spending clubs for defying the rules and making money the base
for success. He pointed out the likes of Manchester City and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 for not abiding by the rules set and maintained that they should be stopped.
Premier League duo Manchester City and Chelsea have spent heavily in the last two seasons to acquire the likes of Edin Dzeko, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707 and Juan Mata.
Manchester City also recently signed a 400 million pound deal for the naming rights of their stadium to balance the books. The deal was questioned by many as Etihad Airlines is owned by the same group which owns the club.
Rummenigge claimed that the owners of Manchester City had promised UEFA President http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michel-c25453 Platini that they would surely abide by the rules of the Financial Fair Play and insisted that the time has come to make changes.
“The sheikhs who own these clubs have promised Michel Platini that they will ensure that the rules are adhered to. We are now - it has to be said perhaps even more - in a test phase. In this test phase, the clubs must change,”
he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The former Bayern Munich striker added that Inter Milan and AC Milan have spent wisely in the past couple of seasons as they are following the regulations of the Financial Fair Play. He maintained that the English sides should
follow the criteria otherwise the game would suffer in the future.

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge stated that the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea suffer huge losses every year but are unaffected as they have the strong financial backing of their owners.
