The Bayern Munich chairman has congratulated his side on reaching the last-four of the UEFA Champions League and eyes a treble this season.
Bayern Munich chairman, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, has expressed his delight after his side entered the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League by beating Olympique Marseille 4-0 on aggregate. The Reds hosted the Ligue 1 side on Tuesday,
April 3, at the Allianz Arena for the second-leg of their Champions League quarter-final with the hosts winning 2-0 on the night courtesy of a brace from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ivica-Olic-c17399.
The chief mentioned that Bayern are in with a great chance of completing a treble this season. He reckons that the Reds could make best use of their current form in all competitions and is confident that his side can get the better
of the likes of Real Madrid and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604.
Bayern will most likely take on Real Madrid in the semi-final of the competition and are already in the final of the German Cup against Borussia Dortmund on May 12. The Bavarian giants sit just three points behind the Borussians
in the Bundesliga and a win in each of their remaining six games can help them regain their German crown.
In an official interview to Fifa.com, Rummenigge further added:
"We are still in all three competitions and in good shape. We take all three competitions seriously, but we continue to think from game to game, starting with the home Bundesliga game against Augsburg on Saturday."
On the other hand, Bayern manager Jupp Heynckes also showed his pleasure after leading Bayern into the last-four. The boss also reserved praise for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-Neuer-c23424 whose outstanding reflexes in the first 15 minutes kept Marseille
at bay.
"That is a big success for us, (goalkeeper) Manuel Neuer did well for us at the start with two good saves before we took the lead. We used several players who haven't played so much this season and it was a positive aspect that
they came in and did well,” Heynckes concluded.
Bayern will now return to the league action against FC Augsburg on Saturday, April 7, in their bid to further close the gap on the Black Yellows.
