Karl-Heinz Rummenigge rates the current Bayern Munich side as the best in history – Football News
Bayern Munich CEO, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, has admitted that the current side is the best in the club’s history as the Reds chase the first treble by a German team.
The Bavarian chief has insisted that the current Bayern Munich team is the best in the club’s history. The team has been in staggering form this season and has already secured the Bundesliga title and the UEFA
Champions League title. The Reds will be aiming for a treble this weekend as they take on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfB-Stuttgart-c40879 in the final of the German Cup.
Rummenigge stated that the current Bayern Munich is better than the team that won the European title for three consecutive times in 70s and the team that secured the UEFA Champions League in 2001. He admitted
that considering the competition nowadays with so many teams investing heavily, it has become extremely difficult to perform consistently.
However, the chief added that Bayern reached the final for the third time in four years and are the most consistent side in Europe right now.
“What I have experienced now is above what we had then and above our triumph in 2001. However, I believe such an era [of dominance] is no longer feasible because the European top two or three percent today decide
on the destiny of the trophy,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, Rummenigge admitted that it would be great to win the treble this term as no other German team has achieved the feat. The chairman added that the team needs to continue performing at this level
to achieve more success.
“It would be nice if we win the treble. The question is whether the team can do it after the triumph in the Champions League. Once again, we need to keep this concentration and this greed as high as it has been
in the past three or four months,” he concluded.
Pep Guardiola will take over the reins at Bayern Munich next term. The Reds have already secured the signing of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mario Gotze for €37 million and are reportedly after http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robert-Lewandowski-c31255.
