The Bavarian giants are deeply in debt of Hopfner who transformed the club to the best in the country, and has been working for the FC Hollywood outfit for the last 29 years.
Bayern Munich deputy chairman will enjoy his 60th birthday bash on Tuesday. The club official has spent almost all his life working for Die Roten and has been instrumental in their dominance of German football.
Franz Beckenbauer suggested that Hopfner is a symbol representing Bayern and the Bundesliga club would not have been the same without him, even with the inclusion of Uli Hoeness and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
“FC Bayern would not be what it is today without Karl Hopfner. Even with Uli Hoeness. Even with Karl-Heinz Rummenigge,” Franz Beckenbauer was quoted as saying in an interview.
Hoeness commended the deputy chairman by stating that he helped Bayern claim the excess cash-load available to them. Moreover, as he works behind the scenes, he is not given much appreciation in his efforts to make Der FCB a top
club in Europe.
“Karl Hopfner is one of the people responsible for putting Bayern in the strong financial position it enjoys today. He is not given enough credit for his part in Bayern's successes of the past 20 to 30 years,” Uli Hoeness points
out.
Wolfgang Niersbach glorified the 60-year-old as the best sporting hero for the Munich club. DFB chief credited him with being the best in the field of strategy, capital and manager.
“Just as important for FC Bayern as the actual sportsmen, he is the great strategist, the finance expert, the organiser and administrator working behind the scenes,” DFB president mused.
The veteran does not have a football background and has never played the sport as a profession. He coincidentally applied for the vacant post of managing director when he was only 30-years-old as he was indeed a Reds' fan. Therefore,
after being selected the executive took up the charge instantly.
Hoeness conceded that only 20 people were shortlisted from a total of 400 applicants. Both the top executives raised the German club’s level from a small club to the most successful team of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904.
