Karl Platt and Lea Davison won the Langkawi International MTB Challenge
Karl Platt of Team Bulls won the sixth stage of the Langkawi International MTB Challenge 2012 after his heroic performance during day 6 of the race.
Florian Vogel of Team Scott Swisspower and Burry Stander of Team Specialized occupied the second and the third positions.
Fabian Giger of Team Rabobank Giant Offroad Team succeeded in claiming the overall victory after his superb performance throughout the race.
The Swiss completed the six-day race in a total time of 10 hours, 40 minutes and 4 seconds and restricted the race favourites.
He was delighted after securing the top overall position and thanked his teammates for their continuous support throughout the race.
"I knew I have a good lead before the race today so I just needed to stay close to the leading pack," said Giger.
"This is a memorable win for me. It is quite tough throughout in the overall race in Langkawi considering the heat, humidity, rain, deep trail, slippery tracks and all. But now I am super-happy about winning it today".
Kristian Hynek of Team Ceska Sporitelna Specialized finished 6 minute and 18 seconds behind at the second position with Karl Platt of Team Bulls securing the third spot.
Emil Lindgren of Team Rabobank-Giant Offroad achieved the fourth position with Max Knox of Team Specialized securing the fifth spot.
On the other hand, Eva Lechner of Team Colnago Sudtirol wins the women category of the race after completing the race in a cumulative time of 30 minutes and 44 seconds.
Lea Davison of Team Specialized finished 14 seconds behind at the second position and maintained her overall position after the day-6 overall classifications.
“I am so pleased to be on the podium and to win the title”.
“The whole race was hard but fun and I have to compliment the organizer for the good organization and allowing the riders to enjoy the waterfall and majestic stretch along the stream and beaches”.
Norwegian cyclist Elisabeth Sveum secured the second overall position after the overall classifications with Janka Stevkova, Nathalie Schneitter and Eva Lechner occupying the third, fourth and fifth positions in the respective order.
